Mythical creatures appear in the folklore of many cultures around the world. These creatures often have magical powers and can be either benevolent or malevolent (or even both). Tales of mythical creatures or monsters are often used to teach moral lessons or used to explain natural phenomena. Who knows perhaps some mythical creatures really are the cultural remnants of creatures who really did exist (or still do)?
